She shuts her mouth,
The ends turn down
As if something offensive has dared pass her nostril.
Her accent is clipped and English.
Yet, she isn’t from the motherland,
Though, perhaps she would prefer to be.
Looking down her nose.
A frown etched onto her brow,
Disdain.
Her hand pushes into the sunken cheek
And thin, tight mouth.
Dragging skin downwards from the searching small eyes
Darting:
Rodent like
Observing those in the room.
An expert in her field
Listening, head cocked, eyes narrowed,
She stops to jot down an interpretation of the current speaker
A note to self.
Nodding,
Stifling a gasp
The eyes behind the iron rimmed half framed reading glasses
Piercing the aura of those who speak frankly.
Is it out of contempt or interest?
She checks her nails
The cuticles bounce back agreeably,
Gathering herself and her belongings together
She leaves,
Without much fuss.
